Getting to know Powell
Powell sits where Emory Road crosses Clinton Highway in north Knox County, and its quirkiest landmark says a lot about the community’s character: the restored 1930s Airplane Filling Station, a service station built in the shape of an airplane, lovingly preserved by local effort as a roadside icon.
Beyond the landmark, Powell is a practical place to live: an established school community, ballfields and parks along the Beaver Creek corridor (where the county has been building out a water trail and greenway), and one of the north side’s best commuting positions with the Emory Road interchange on I-75 minutes away.
Getting around
Emory Road connects to I-75; Clinton Highway runs toward downtown.
