Loan limits
FHA caps the size of a loan. The cap depends on the county.
One cap per county
HUD sets a loan limit for each county and updates it each year. Counties where homes cost more have higher limits.
Why it matters
If the loan you need is bigger than the limit, a different kind of loan may fit better. A lender can look up the limit for the county you are shopping in.
Where to look
HUD publishes the limits on its own site. Because they change, this page does not print them.
What this rests on
Amounts and limits change and differ by lender and by county. Ask a lender, and read the official page. Read the official page.
